No More Boxed Granola Bars!



I'll bet you thought you were doing your family a favor by keeping a box of granola bars on hand.  Truth is, many found on grocery store shelves aren't any healthier than candy bars!  They are loaded with sugar, sodium, preservatives and other unpronounceable ingredients.  All things that we should be trying to eat less of.  Check out this link at Healthcastle.com.  Sure, the homemade example is higher in protein and fat, but that comes mostly from the peanut butter and walnuts.  Both provide healthy monounsaturated fats.  The lack of fiber can be remedied by throwing in a couple handfuls of chia or flax seeds.

Next time you see that cute Quaker guy smiling at you with promises of a quick, "healthy" breakfast, think twice and give this recipe a try!
